Trending Summer 2015 Paint Colors

Brent Lunde - Thursday, July 30, 2015

It's hot, it's sunny and it's another beautiful summer in the Pacific Northwest! If you're like many of our readers, you're probably using the summer weather and more relaxed schedule as motivation to get some projects done around the house. Is painting on your list? If so, we've got a list to share with you of trending summer colors that homeowners are loving this year. Take a look and see if any of these colors spark your interest!

From HGTV, here are 8 bright trending colors that really pop, and would make for a fun summer paint touch-up as an accent wall or base color for a room:

1. Dark Magenta – Yes, pink is back in style. Well, we're not sure it ever went out of style, but we will say that it takes a daring designer to paint a whole room vibrant pink. Too much for you? No worries – use it as an accent color and pair it with white or light gray.

2. Teal Green – Think of it as a mix of Tiffany blue and Bahamas aqua. Nothing says focus like a shade of blue-green. This color is perfect for a study area or reading room, as it is both soothing and invigorating.

3. Sunshine Yellow – It's cheerful, uplifting and brightens any room right up. Try this color in your kitchen or hallways.

4. Ocean Blue – There's nothing as mesmerizing as that deep blue color we love to gaze out at when we go to the beach. Blue is a very calming color and a great option for a bedroom or bathroom.

5. Coral – If you're wanting to add a little spunk to a room or want to feel like you're living in the tropics, this color is for you! It's sassy, invigorating and sweet all at the same time. Makes for a great accent wall, especially if paired with cream or beige.

6. Sky Blue – This is such a wonderful, dreamy way to spruce up a room. Consider painting your bedroom ceiling for a unique effect. This color pairs nicely with other hues of blue and gray.

7. Mango – Shades of orange have never felt more right. Pair with deep, ocean blue for a dazzling contrast.

8. Avocado Green – You know the color of the inside of a perfectly ripe avocado? Now imagine that on your walls! Sound daring? It is, but the result can be a beautiful, zen look that will leave you recharged and refreshed at the end of a long day!

Other colors we recommend checking out include guilford green, voted by Benjamin Moore as the color of the year, soft sand – a peachy-cream color, and jack pine – a forest blue-green. For an earthy feel, check out timothy straw, or split pea, if you're wanting something a little funky and playful. Are you wanting something more subtle and feminine? We have just color in mind – pink damask. It's dainty, bright, sophisticated and highly versatile. For those of you looking for a more elegant or masculine color, you might like caponata with purple undertones and a deep, rich look and feel.

If you're looking for even more ideas, check out this page of paint color suggestions from Benjamin Moore. There are even examples of what the color looks like once it's in a room, which is always helpful.
